I had an awesome weekend! Spent Friday with my mom. We had lunch at the Tea Hive, it's this cute little place that serves tea and sandwiches, very english.
Dan and I went out to Penn State for the game on Saturday. They killed Minnesota! We went with Uncle Frank and Tante which is always a blast. After we met up with a bunch of Dan's friends from PSU. Slept in a tent, very unsuccessfully because it was freezing.
Watched the Giants beat the Rams!
So all in all a great weekend.
I've had quite a few of those recently. :) Last weekend was Irish weekend down the shore. Everybody came, even Katie and Albert. I'm so glad we had a chance to all hang out before they leave for Prague.

Today's Bean's birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACLYN!

Went on an interview today for an HR internship. I think it went well. I really want it, so wish me luck!

I can't believe it's October already. I have a strong suspicion this last year of school is going to go by unbelievably fast. In some ways that's sad, but in others it's exciting. Dan and I are probably going to move out to California when I'm done with school. I'm really looking forward to the next couple years, there's so much to look forward to.
For now I've got a lot of homework I need to catch up on...

its been a while since i posted so i thought i'd write something. don't really know what to say though.
hmmm...
i almost got stranded in new brunswick the other night bc i lost my keys. it turned out that they were at lost and found for several hours but when i went there the kid couldn't be bothered to get off his butt and check. it wasn't written in the binder so he figured they weren't there. thank goodness i went back. the woman thought she'd make sure, even though it wasn't in the sacred binder. i'm so glad she did. i was able to call gooch back before she got on the turnpike.
gooch is awesome, she was gonna drive all the way up there just to get me, and j was gonna come just to keep her company. the drive is over an hour. i have great friends! i love living with them. wish cass was here though, that would be perfect.
i guess that's about the most interesting thing that's happened to me in a few weeks.

i take that back...
j and i were at landmark for the first giants game. (a surprising number of giants fans were there. i guess bc the eagles played on monday. we were surprised and delighted)
this crazy guy started trying to talk to us from across the bar. eventually he came over and brought these two young guys with him. he started telling really bad jokes, such as...
crazy guy: how much does a polar bear weigh?
j and i: don't know
crazy guy: enough to break the ice!
he talked about nothing for about 10 minutes. it was really uncomfortable bc he wasn't really making sense and he was clearly smashed. he introduced the two guys and finally left. we asked the guys how they knew him and they said they didn't. he'd somehow ropped them into sitting with him and they thought he was just as crazy as we did. so we invited them to sit with us. they turned out to be freshmen at rowan, both giants fans, and real nice guys. it was fun...except for the crazy guy.

can't think of anything else to write. gonna go watch some tv.

ramblings about what i've been up to lately...
11:19pm 23/08/2005
Took the english fam to Lancaster County. Saw some buggies, had some family style dinner...
dinner
Also went to the Sussex County Fair and a minor league baseball game where we got to see some surprisingly good fireworks (I was very happy bc I missed fireworks this year as I was out of the country for the 4th). Every year when we go to the fair we see "the bee man". Here he's actually resting his chin on a swarm of bees...
beeman
I love watching him do his bee thang. For a while my mom and I considered keeping bees.

Dan and I went to the aquarium by his place. I love zoos and aquariums, I'm like a little kid about them. We sat and watched this seal sit on his rock forever and then kept going back to see if he'd moved...nope, he sat there all day.
seal
We also saw one of the only 40 albino aligators in the country. I had no idea there was such a thing. At first he didn't look real. We kept waiting for him to move, but he waited until we turned around. Figures. His name was Blizzard...
blizzard

The 10th was Cody's first birthday! Dan got him GIANT bone. It's so funny to see him eat it. (I couldn't get the picture to work.) One of his new favorite pass times is hanging out under Dan's bed, hehe...
cody underbed

Dan and I and his family went to see the Gin Blossoms and Collective Soul. I wasn't really familiar with either band beforehand but I recognized a bunch of songs. We had lawn seats, so we just spread out and had a picnic, it was a good time.

This is the spider that was living by my garage...
spider
We all thought it looked like it had been imported from the rain forest and would kill us in our sleep, but apparently it's pretty common and harmless. I forget what it's called though.

I actually made some progress on my screenplay this week. Woohoo! At this rate I'll finish it when I'm 60!

Mandy moved into her house at school. It's so nice I can't believe they rent it to college kids.

I'm on a mission to have all my Christmas shopping done by the end of October. Every year I cram it in between finals which takes all the fun out of it. I already figured out what my "make-a-gift" is going to be. I thought for sure I'd be the first, but it turns out Jaclyn is already finished. Way to go! Though I wouldn't mind a little recognition. Beanie! ;)

Finally started working on a scrapbook of my trip.

My mom sent me the following...
This month, Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky. Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m. By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m. That's pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month.
I'm definately going to check it out!...if I remember.

Danny introduced me to a movie called Heart and Souls. Robert Downey Jr. is in it. Four other people die just as he is being born, so their souls are attached to him. Only he can see them so everyone else thinks he's crazy. It was one of those fun, feel good movies. I loved it!

Dan sent me the links to a bunch of movies that are coming out. There's a lot of good ones...My Date With Drew, Lord of War, Broken Flowers, Thumbsucker, and Jarhead.

Last weekend was Katie's bridal shower and bachelorette party. We ate on the roof of a shwanky NYC restaurant called Sushi Samba. Then went to a bar. Nothing crazy, just hanging out with friends, just what Katie wanted. We had an AWESOME time! Gooch especially loved the part when Cass kept pinching her nose every time she went to sleep.

For those who don't know my friends...from the left, Jeanine (aka J), me, Katie, Jamie (aka Gooch), and Cass.

I'm really looking forward to the next couple of weekends! CAPPS! Katie's wedding! Jeanine's birthday! Football season! If only there wasn't that pesky business of school starting...but at least I don't have to get a real job!

Mama Mia!
09:56am 01/08/2005
This weekend was awesome! Dan and I went with his family to Mangia e Bevi, it's this Italian restaurant in NY where they hand out tamberines and encourage people to dance on their chairs. Then we saw Mama Mia. I really liked it, it's so upbeat and fun. I definately recommend it.

Yesterday we went to the aquarium and looked at the fishes. They had an albino alligator. Apparently there are only 40 in the world. Maybe it was 40 in the US? I hate when I can't remember stuff like that. Anyway, it looked like a statue when we first saw it. We saw them feed the seals, saw sharks and sea turtles and an octopus, and saw an imax show. I'm such a geek, Dan had to keep dragging me away from the tanks and the signs with all the little facts. I love reading those things.

Rome
02:11pm 07/07/2005
Not much time, have to keep this one short.
After Croatia, Venice seemed very touristy. I think I just made up a word.
Rome was great!
Were flying back to England today. Saw the news this morning. My heart stopped. Adams family is in London today. They were helping his sister move, so they probably werent on the subway. Havent heard from them yet though. Were going to go to the airport early and see whats happening with the flights. I dont think itll be a problem. Gatwich is on the outskirts of London. Probably just delays and stuff.
No matter what its gonna be a long day.

Venice
06:43pm 03/07/2005
  Plans change.
Croatia's public transportation is not ideal. It would have taken 32 hours on a train to get from Dubrovnik to Pula, which was the plan. So we've decided to skip it and come straight to Venice. Took the ferry to Bari, Italy. It was supposed to get in at 8. The train from there to Venice was at 9:30...plenty of time! NOT! We spent over 3 hours floating about a mile off the coast because the water was to choppy to come into the dock. Booked it across what felt like the entire city of Bari to get to the train station where the information desk was closed and no one spoke english. The most reasonable option was a train that left at 5 am, which meant sleeping in the train station for about 4 hours among Italy's finest. Needless to say I didn't sleep much.
When we finally settled into our cabin things were looking up. Went right to sleep until 9:30 in the morning when a woman who had a reserved seat woke us all up and made us move. Apparently we were on the most popular train known to man and everybody had a reservation except for us. We had to move about 3 or 4 times. I've never been so exhausted.
I know this all sounds pretty negative, but actually in really good spirits now I'm here and showered. And you have to admit, these things can be really funny, for example, I fell asleep sitting straight up amongst an Italian family on vacation and started drooling.
Oh! I forgot the best part. The night before we left, Emma went onto the balcony and fell spectacularly, which was really funny until Adam pointed out that her toe was not at all where it should be. It was at a 45° angle from the rest. Fortunately she just dislocated it and the trip to the hospital only took an hour. It's a lovely shade of purple now.
Taking it easy tonight. We're at a pretty cool campsite. Sightseeing around Venice tomorrow!!! I'm so excited!

Korcula and Dubrovnik
01:30pm 30/06/2005
Korcula was beautiful! We only stayed one night though. All these places have narrow stone streets, white buildings, and palm trees. It's so pretty.
Dubrovnik is much more city than the other places we've been in croatia. There's a big castle to see here, but we've only just got here so I haven't seen it yet.
We wanted to go to Sarajevo because you can still see the scars of the war and it won't be that way much longer, but I don't think we're going to have time.
I can't believe how fast it is going!

Hvar!
05:55pm 28/06/2005
Im on a beautiful island off croatia and leaving for another one today!
Saw the most amazing thing yesterday. It was called the blue cave because the light comes up through the water making the entire cave look blue.
Then I ate fish with the heads still on. That was a first for me.
Rented a boat today. It was so much fun and we didnt have to deal with the rocks, just jumped in right off the boat.

Croatia!
01:37pm 26/06/2005
At the last minute a bunch of people decided to come with us to Croatia with us for a grand total of 9 people traveling together. The two guys are cool, the girls...well, two are identical twin strippers and the other is just kinda annoying. Its been a lot of fun and very interesting.
Croatia is beautiful! The mountains and the ocean are right on top of each other, which makes the landscape so gorgeous! We spent the last two days on the beach.
Were in Split now, its not much a tourist town, which is good and bad. Leaving for the islands today! Were just sort of winging it between here and Venice which is pretty cool.
The water is very salty.
Ive decided I dont like stone beaches, but I am definately not complaining.
12 more days of traveling, then 4 more in england, then home. Its going extremely fast. So much to take in, its really awesome!

Prague!
02:18pm 16/06/2005
Took the over night train from Amsterdam, didn't sleep well, especially since scary german police came in in the wee hours to demand passports. Mandy and I are traveling on our UK passports and I was really glad because the other guys in the cabin were from the states and were the only ones who had their bags searched. It was really unnerving.
Got here around 9am, exhausted and really smelly. Took a 2000 crown note out of the atm and no one would break it. Eventually the kid in McDonalds did it for me. He had to go around to every register to make the change. It's bizare when your meal rings up at 191.00! The hostel wouldn't let us check in until 3. We were all so tired but had no choice but to walk around in the pouring rain for about 4 hours. After a shower and a nap things brighten up a lot. Had 4 pieces of pizza, a soda, and two beers for about $10! Beer is about $1 everywhere you go. There's been a lot of theft in our hostel. There's no lockers and one of the keys for the room is missing!! We made them move us to a room upstairs with only 5 beds and all keys were accounted for.
It's hot and sunny today, and everything is beautiful!!!! We've gotten a little lost a few times and wondered into some more rundown areas but the city center is gorgeous. We went to the Prague Castle, largest int he world, today. It was awesome!
Foods ready, gotta go! Having an awesome time. Love to all!

AMSTERDAM!!!
01:58pm 13/06/2005
got here yesterday morning. spent most of the day walking around. it's wild! you can smell pot everywhere and they aren't very subtle about other drugs either. it's so odd to see the women in the windows (they file taxes). we went into a sex museum, very funny, and had some funny cake, didn't feel a thing, we split two pieces between four of us, that might be why. everyone gets around on bikes and they have no problem running you over whether it's with a bike or a car. they just ring their little bells at you to get out of their way.
pregamed last night because it's very expensive. we had about 10 people playing circle of death which is basically king cup without the cup. i'm the best question master ever, the english version is a little more abusive, instead of answering with another question, you have to say "fuck off". it was easy to get people because i just kept asking everyone where they were from. it was a lot of fun, i still have a headache.
we went to the anne frank museum this morning. i had a hard time not getting choked up. i think we're going to the van gogh museum next.
this is an awesome city. it's really pretty with all the old buildings and canals (not going on the boat tour, too much money). all the buildings look squashed together, most of the streets are really small and made with cobblestone, you get the impression the buildings are leaning in, i think some of them are.
the hostels not bad, it's over an irish pub, there's a brothel and a church right outside.
none of us knows for sure what THE dish of holland is, cheese? anyone?

dan, mandy said she couldn't get her phone card to work, i haven't tried yet, so if i don't call, that's why. love you.

Went to Southampton yesterday, didn't really do any sightseeing, just shopping with adam because he only just started getting himself "sorted out" for "traveling". Went for a walk by the ocean after tea and pudding (also known as dinner and dessert). Just haning out today. I wanted to sit in the sun but it's hiding behind some clouds. :o(
CAN'T WAIT FOR SUNDAY!!!

p.s. i had a dream that i had to diffuse a bomb, it was very intense and i woke up clutching my pillow, it was cool.

  hey everybody!
london was awesome! we saw pretty much everything. while we were walking across green park the army was doing some sort of drill on horseback with cannons, we think it's because monday was the 60th anniversary of VE Day. saw two fancy uniformed guys leaving buckingham palace with an escort. no idea who they were. saw big ben, house of parliament, downing street, st. paul's, tower of london, tower bridge, st. katherine's docks, covent garden, and piccadily circus...all on foot. needless to say we were tired.
yesterday we went to the weald and downland open air museum. they move historic buildings from all over the country to this place so they can keep them preserved. it was really cool seeing homes from as long ago as the 13th century. i'm very glad i didn't live back then. can't wait to post pictures of the toilet. it was fun and definately up my alley since i'm such a geek.
went out last night to a very "posh" club. had some fancy drink called purple rain, it was supposed to have about 5 different liquors in it but i swear we got ripped off because it tasted like juice. i think we're going to the "cinema" tonight. get this, star wars came out over here at the same time it did in the u.s. but sin city just came out on friday. weird.

lots of postcards heading back soon!

  'ello from britian!
arrived tuesday night. good flight. i'm the only idiot who tries to watch a serious movie on the plane. everyone else is giggling at hitch and sideways and i'm crying over million dollar baby. oh well, it was good.
went to the d-day museum and southsea castle on wednesday. it was fun though the automated tour at southsea was a little corny. the d-day museum has an enormous tapestry that runs around the entire room. it was really interesting. tuesday we went to stonehenge! AWESOME! you see it as you come up the hill and it looks so impressive. i can only imagine what it must have been like to come up through the trees 3000 years ago for some sun ceremony. it must have been awe inspiring. you can't go up to the stones, but you walk around and listen to the audio thing that tells you all about it. the stones come from ireland, they're blue inside, its been rebuilt three times (the first time it was a giant ditch dug with antlers and the shoulder blades of cattle), there's a lot of interesting mathematical stuff (like if all the heel stones were in place they would for a perfect rectangle), the slaughter stone got its name because it appears red when it gets wet (but they don't think it was used for sacrifices, it just fell down and all the stones would look like that if they were on their sides), and although they don't know exactly what it was used for, it is definitely some kind of calendar, the sun shines through a different arch each month. it was so cool.
afterward we went to corfe castle. this was so cool. it's at the top of a huge, very steep hill. it's just a ruin because during the civil war, parliament had it destroyed. they dug under the stones walls and set off explosives. part of the gateway slid forward 3 meters, crushing two soldiers. the view from the top was spectacular. we even say an old steam train go by.
today we went to gunwharf. jenny (my mom's cousin whom i'm staying with) lives in portsmouth (which is at the bottom of england by the ocean). gunwarf has lots of "shops" and a millenium tower that isn't finished yet (just a little bit late). you can see the battleships and the ferries coming in from france.
everywhere we go we stop for tea. most places you actually get china rather than paper cups or styrofoam. it's been rainy and cold so far, but it's england.
tomorrow we're going to london. that's all for now. :o)

p.s. miss my baby.

Leaving tomorrow morning before the sun comes up! I'm so excited! I have to finish packing today. Easier said than done, my pack seems to have shunk since I bought it. I'll be in the UK until the 11th of June, then it's off to Amsterdam. After that I don't know exactly where we're going, we'll be planning it with my cousin and his friends when we get there. But it should include Prague, Budapest, and Croatia. But we have to end up in Rome on July 7th to fly back to England. I'll be flying back to the US on the 12th.
I'm going to try to post as often as possible. :o)

Just in case I don't get a chance... Happy Birthday Cass, Mrs. C, and Kate! Happy Graduation Bean! and I hope Cass and Jeanine's grad parties kick ass!
P.S. There is a suspicious lack of Little Jess (aka Jess part duex) pictures.

On another note, my mom and I went to Longwood Gardens on Friday. It was my Mother's Day gift to her. We had so much fun. I want to make a habit of going. It is really beautiful, though we missed the roses. They don't come out until later in the summer.
I really wanted to include pictures but I can't get my stupid photobucket to cooperate. grrr
I also had some graduation pics. oh well...
